Who is Green Mountain Santa?
Green Mountain Santa is Matt Spaulding, a life long resident of Vermont and a life long Christmas lover. Matt actually began his career as Santa in the United States Postal Service, answering all the letters that children wrote and sent out to Santa that passed through his office each year. It wasn’t long before Matt felt the calling of actually putting on the red suit and beard. After his first year as Santa, Matt attended and graduated from the oldest Santa school in the country, the Charles W. Howard Santa Claus School in Midland, Michigan. In 2021, he was a member of the first graduating class of Pro Santa School in Charlotte, NC.
During the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, Matt learned how to conduct virtual visits via Zoom, allowing children from more than just Vermont to still be able to visit with Santa in a time of great instability, offering children a unique look into Santa’s home at the North Pole. The virtual visits were so fun, he decided to keep them and now conducts them as part of the services he offers.
Matt strives to be the best Santa he can be and, as such, believes in education and professional development. He has attended some of the best Santa schools and is a member of several Santa organizations (see below) where he has enjoyed learning from brothers in red from across the country and around the world, many of whom have been performing for several decades.
